Steve Kassay is a musician and songwriter from Madison, Connecticut. My musical influences run the spectrum from the free-flowing spirit of the Grateful Dead to the raw, honest energy of the Avett Brothers. I’ve always been drawn to music that feels genuine—songs with a story, a groove, and a little bit of soul.
For me, playing music is about more than just getting the notes right. It’s about the connection between the musicians, the audience, and the moment. Whether it’s a stripped-down song or a full-on jam, I love music that leaves room to breathe, wander, and surprise you.
Singer, multi-instrumentalist, occasional songwriter, and your friend and neighbor, Jay Juran has always been rooted in Americana while he’s wandered through countless other genres. From playing with high school heroes Life of Riley and Justice for Janitors in Milford, to the powerhouse Folk & Spoon out of Portland, Oregon, to the Irish stalwart Juice O’ the Barley in Denver, to the street-folk thrash-grass stylings of the Haws out of Minneapolis, Jay brings inspiration from many places and backgrounds to every Haydukes performance. He lives with his family in Clinton, CT, likes making bread, and is looking forward to seeing you again real soon!
Ian MacMillen is a songwriter, vocalist, and bass/guitarist residing in New Haven, CT. His lyrics focus on the frailty, beauty, and absurdity of relationships (broadly construed). Also the bassist and a singer in the Balkan band Kolegi, and formerly of the Ohio-based Americana band Chu Dat Frawg, he splits his time between North Americana alt country/folk and Southeast European traditional styles. Ian teaches Balkan and Indigenous musics at Yale University, where he is deeply involved with the community of other Native faculty, staff, and students.
